WHO Expert  Committee on the selection and use of essential medicines

On 23 March, WSMI was invited  to give a brief statement of support for the inclusion of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) on the Essential Drug List (EDL).
The EDL presents a list of minimum medicine needs for a basic health care system. WSMI believes that, with the rise of chronic diseases including cancer, chronic respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease and diabetes - and tobacco use being one of the main risk factors causing these diseases, helping tobacco users to quit would make a big difference to public health.  To view WSMI's full statement, click here.
