Chinese self-care industry launches self-medication magazine
November 2008
A new self-care magazine has been launched. Targeting the general public, this magazine is aimed at improving people's health through the promotion of healthy habits and lifestyle and proper use of non-prescription medicines. Poor healthy lifestyles have become a critical issue in China where obesity is increasing at an alarming rate, as in most parts of the world, with the related high risks of chronic non-communicable diseases such heart disease, cancer, diabetes or mental disorders.
The magazine was launched on the occasion of the WHO Congress on  Traditional Medicines which was held in Beijing on November 7-9, 2008 and where WSMI and CNMA organized a symposium on self-care in healthcare systems and a symposium on Traditional, alternative and complemetary medicines.
