ANDI, the Colombian Pharma Association, organized a Round Table on Self – Care in Bogota, Colombia, last 28 March, with the support of ILAR (The Latin American Self-Medication Industry) and of WSMI. The head of the Colombian regulatory agency, the Presidents of the National Academies of Colombia and Mexico, the Director of Coordination of the National Institutes of Health of Mexico along with high level representatives of scientific associations and the pharmaceutical industry of Colombia discussed and agreed on the prominent role that selfcare plays in healthcare.
The adopted “Bogota Declaration” was developed following the basic principles of the WSMI Declaration on selfcare and selfmedication and the “Mexico City Declaration”. It calls for the integration of a working group whose main objective will be to develop a plan aiming at supporting the activities that the Ministry of Social Protection is doing in the field of selfcare and help this institution obtain the necessary resources to make selfcare part of the national health policies of Colombia.
