International Forum on Promoting Self-Medication in China

A ‘Government-Industry Round Table’ meeting in China was co-hosted by WSMI and the Chinese Nonprescription Medicines Association CNMA in Beijing on 2 December 2005. In the first part of the meeting, presentations and constructive discussions around the benefits of responsible self-medication took place, harmonizing the numerous participants’ perceptions about the topic. The meeting then focused on a proposal of regulatory developments designed to improve the contribution self-medication can make to healthcare in China. The meeting was very well supported by the Chinese authorities and well represented by all parties involved, with around 90 participants.
