WHO consultation on Quality of Herbal Medicines, Abu Dhabi

WSMI, represented by Selim Sadek, Director-General of MESMI (Middle-East Self-Medication Industry), took part in WHO discussions on the 2nd revised draft of the “GMP: Updated supplementary guidelines for the manufacture of herbal medicinal products” in Abu Dhabi, 13-15 June 2005.  After a review of the draft, the participants focused on the objectives and outline of the working draft guidelines on identifying marker substances for quality control of herbal medicines. In taking part to these discussions, WSMI emphasizes its commitment to create and maintain an international environment, intended to improve the opportunities for people to manage their own health through the responsible use of safe and effective self-care products, including herbal medicines.
