Combatting counterfeiting

A symposium was held at the World Bank in Washington on March 10 to discuss the scourge of counterfeiting. WSMI was pleased to be present to represent the views of the over-the-counter medicines and WSMI's representative from US Member Association CHPA presented at the meeting an ran a video of a counterfeit medicines and products seizure operation in Colombia.

On 15 May WSMI Director-General Dr David Webber gave a presentation entitled "Counterfeiting in Latin America" at a reception at the start of WHO's World Health Assembly in Geneva.

WSMI is also pleased to be invited to join the ICN Anti-counterfeiting Advisory Board, working with many other groups to combat the scourge of counterfeit medicines.
