WSMI and the UN
September 2004

WSMI Director-General David Webber represented WSMI at the 57th Annual DPI/NGO Conference in September at UN Headquarters in New York. This was the first contact with the UN following WSMI’s acceptance into roster consultative status (see a previous news item). This annual meeting represents the principal collective meeting between NGOs and different UN Departments, and have been run on an annual basis since 1947. The focus of the meeting was the ‘Millennium Development Goals: Civil Society Takes Action’. Some 2700 delegates representing 700 NGOs were present.
