Patients and Pharmacists

WSMI Director-General David Webber represented WSMI by invitation at the FIP Council Meeting and Congress in New Orleans in September. The overall subject of the conference was ‘The Patient and the Pharmacist – The Heart of the New Healthcare Team.’ WSMI supports the objective of enabling consumers and patients to take up a more engaged role in their own healthcare, and endorses the opportunity that pharmacists have to extend and develop their services in support of better healthcare.
A special meeting of the FIP Global Network of Pharmacists Against Tobacco was also held, and in a press release FIP called for a worldwide ban on tobacco sales and smoking in pharmacies, which WSMI would fully support.
