Launch of the White Ribbon Alliance Policy Brief on Self-Care

On the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the White Ribbon Alliance “Every Woman, Every Child” commitment to strengthen self-care as a means to achieve global maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) goals, and of the high level political forum, the White Ribbon Alliance has launched a policy brief with global, national and district-level recommendations to drive self-care interventions that support quality of care. The paper, entitled “Self-Care: a cost effective solution for maternal, newborn and child health for all”, explains among other things that the benefits of MNCH self-care are potentially immense: “Self-care efforts promise substantial benefits in terms of cost-effective use of resources, bolstering quality of care and contributing to sustainable community health”. The paper involved key stakeholder interviews and a comprehensive literature review among other research. As a strong advocate of self-care, WSMI is pleased to have contributed to this paper and to extend its dissemination to stakeholders.
