International Self-Care Day resolution passed in the US Senate

On 23 July 2014, the US Senate officially designated 24 July as “International Self-Care Day” (ISD). (Download Resolution). This is another public recognition of the value of self-care to individuals and to public health. Prevention through self-care is key in the fight against the global epidemic of chronic diseases and it is essential to encourage and support people to take a greater responsibility for their health and make changes to their lifestyles.
