Boca Raton (FL), 19th March 2019 – Alan Main, Executive Vice President of Sanofi and Global Head, Consumer Healthcare Division, was unanimously elected as Chair of the World Self Medication Industry (WSMI) at its Board Meeting held in Boca Raton Florida today. WSMI is a federation of associations, manufacturers and distributors of non-prescription medicines from around the world. Mr. Main succeeds Brian McNamara, CEO GSK Consumer Healthcare, who hands over the Chair at the end of his two-year term. Mr. McNamara will continue as member of the WSMI Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

Alan Main is a member of the Sanofi Executive Committee and was appointed to his present position as Executive Vice President, Consumer Healthcare in October 2016. He is a highly respected senior leader in the global consumer healthcare industry, with more than 30 years of marketing and general management experience in the consumer health and medical device fields. Originally from Scotland, Alan has worked and lived in the United States, Europe, Hong Kong, and South Africa. He was appointed as a GlobalScot by the Scottish Government in 2011.
